If you want to lose weight you do need to introduce an exercise routine into your life. The smartest and healthiest way to lose weight is to eat a nutritional diet and exercise. Sure you can lose weight with diet alone, but you would need a very restrictive diet which most people will become irritated with and will give up. You will be more successful at losing weight if you combine a good diet with exercise and your diet won't need to be quite as restrictive.

When you are exercising to lose weight it is important to include some sort of cardiovascular exercise. Cardio exercises get your heart rate up which will help you to burn off more calories. For cardio exercising you can do running, walking, aerobics, swimming, cycling or others. It is best to do at least 20 minutes of cardio exercising to get the best results for weight loss. If you haven't exercised for quite some time your body will need to adjust to your new routines so just start off slowly and over time you can increase the exercises. Always start off with some warm up exercises and finish with some cool down exercises to avoid injury.

It is also beneficial to include some strength training into your exercise routine. Muscle actually burns off more calories than fat so when you engage your muscles your metabolism will continue to burn off calories for some time after you have finished exercising. By increasing your muscle mass your body will increase its metabolic rate and burn off more calories. Using weight training as part of your routine will help to tone your body and give you a great shape which is always nice to have when you lose weight.

You can have a set routine that you repeat each day or you can vary your exercise routine. Those who follow the same routine each day may become bored with their exercise and then stop. It is recommended to have a varied exercise routine to keep it interesting and so you don't get bored with exercising. Having a variety of exercises also helps to work different muscles in different areas of the body.

You should try to choose exercises that you will enjoy as there is nothing worse than forcing yourself to exercise each day because you really don't enjoy it. There are many exercises that you can do that are fun such as aqua aerobics, cycling with friends, take up a sport like netball or basketball, or something like dancing or zumba. There are all great, fun ways to exercise, lose weight and stay healthy.

Exercise alone is not enough to lose weight so you want to combine your exercise routine with a nutritional, well balanced diet. When you combine both exercise and diet you are more likely to stick to these changes. You will see results faster and when you begin to see results you will be even more motivated to keep going.

Having a healthy diet and doing regular exercise will help you to lose weight maintain a healthy weight and feel much healthier and more energetic. If you have tried every diet around and haven't had success and just want something that works, then this is what will work - it's very simple, just a good diet and regular exercise. You don't need weight loss pills or patches or soup diets or any other diet fad that is around. These are just fads that work for a short time and before you know it you put that weight back on. You need a lifestyle change that will continue so you can lose weight and maintain that weight loss.
