The sport is becoming safer because of recent innovations in the design of the kites including safety release systems and instructions. However, there are still a number of deaths every year as well as injuries due to hitting obstacles, becoming entangled in the lines or having a body drag the land or water.

Known for their various styles, these kites all have unique specifications that make them sought after in the kite boarding world. Aside from the performance and safety features available, these boards are also very trendy and cool in their appearance making them even more popular among enthusiastic kite surfers.
