Google trademark suppression penalty myth or reality
Of late, it's becoming quite tough to keep pace with Google. There is new penalty in the town and the name is “Google Trademark Suppression Penalty”. Is it just a myth propagated by SEO industry to push the boundaries of SEO to even more areas? After all, now that everybody and their grandmother can do link building, article submission and all the stuff that goes in the name of SEO, SEO consultants have to raise the bar even higher to separate them selves from SEO newbie.
So this hype about Google Trademark Suppression Penalty is something really one has to be aware of now or is it a figment of imagination?
According to some SEO experts, when a site does not come in Google search results for its domain name without the extension then one can assume that the site has been slapped by Google Trademark Suppression Penalty. In such cases the penalized site will not be visible on first page.
While many websites have suffered from such symptoms, it is too early to say if these can ascribed to a new Google penalty called “Google Trademark Suppression Penalty”.
Perhaps what is happening is that Google is getting increasingly strict about shady SEO tactics like links from not-so-reputable sites, link buying and attempts to spam Google search results.
What is for sure is that the basics have still not changed. Google’s webmaster guidelines are perfect way for anybody to understand what Google expects from site owners/webmasters. Any deviation from its guidelines which comes in to Google’s notice will be penalized and penalized harder and that too without any explanations. It then becomes site owners’ headache to find the cause. Once you have been penalized then you are left with 2 options: Either, make changes according to Google’s guidelines, request for re-inclusion and then pray hard. Or change you domain and start afresh.
None of the scenarios are appealing so SEO consultants are better off by been on the right side of the traffic and focus more making the site much valuable.
There likelihood of Google easing up its strict enforcement anytime soon especially after the ruckus was created by many search engine experts who castigated the search giant for been too lax to search spam.
So if you are in to link buying, link selling, doorway pages and illegal activity then Google will come down hard on your website. Soon you will find your site invisible on net with little or no traffic from Google.
