Leather furniture and home theaters- a match made in hollywood

Interior design RSS Feed

There comes a time in one's life when you realize your home is missing something. It eludes you for a time- could it be needing new paint in the living room? a new couch downstairs? what about a new kitchen counter? While none of those would be a bad choice, it's something different. Something new, and something dramatic. You need a home theater. There's that room downstairs that no one is doing anything with- it has kind of become an oversize junk drawer, and we all know that's not very pretty. So why not empty it out and turn it into a home theater? You can have a retreat in your own home for when you get back late from work. You don't have to worry about missing the first few minutes of the movie because it starts when you push the button, you can bring whatever drinks and snacks in with you that you want, and you can stop the movie and put it another one if you don't like it and you're not out any money. You don't have to put up with noisy kids in front of you or people behind you putting their feet on your chair, your own feet won't get stuck in years-old spilled soda on the floor, and you can take a bathroom break whenever you need to without missing any important parts of the movie. Yeah, I would say putting in a home theater would be a pretty great decision. After the screen, which, you know, I guess you could say is a big part of a home theater, the most important element by far is the seating. Now, you might be envisioning some uncomfortable chairs from the 80's that are almost rocking chairs because they're so broken, but I am here to open your eyes to a whole new world of theater seating that will forever change the way you enjoy movies. Leather furniture. Yep, leather theater seating. I know, I know- when you think of leather furniture you think of sofas and maybe an easy chair. How does this translate to the home theater? Perfectly, that's how. Just imagine for a moment- you are curled up in your favorite leather chair; it's perfectly broken in and you cannot even imagine a more comfortable place. You've got your favorite blanket to snuggle up with, and a bowl of popcorn. Now turn the lights off and start the movie. Really, could there be a more appealing setting in which to watch your favorite movies? Not only do you not have to put up with old, dirty movie theater seats, you can completely customize your leather furniturefor your theater. The choices are nearly as multitudinous as what movie to watch. A sampling of the options available include the style and color of the leather, storage capacity, number of seats, recliner or straight form, motion seating, wireless bass shaker systems, and more. There are all sorts of possible combinations of single or multiple seat chairs to layout your home theater in exactly the right way. Leather furnitureis not just for the living room anymore. When you're planning the layout of the room, you might also want to think about including a few other things in your home theater. When I watch a movie at home, I want easy access to a few things- popcorn, drinks and blankets. A small fridge can be that something extra for this room that makes it just perfect. Keep it stocked with your favorite drinks and maybe a few boxes of movie candy. I'd venture to say that a microwave or an air popper is a necessity, along with a good supply of popcorn. And a basket or end table might be just what you need for keeping blankets and pillows handy. Are you going to store your movies in this room, as well? Consider how you want to arrange them- will you need shelving or a cabinet or a secret room behind a revolving bookcase? (I would most definitely go with the revolving bookcase). Also keep in mind how you will be playing your movies; do you have a DVD or blue-ray player that will need to be kept by the screen? If so, make sure you have a large enough space for them, and also a way for the cords to be kept out of sight. If you have a projector and screen, do a quick look to make sure nothing you are going to incorporate into the room's design will interfere with the projection. If you have kids (or boys of any age, for that matter), you'll probably be seeing quite a bit of video-game playing in here, so it's a good idea to provide a storage space for that right from the beginning.
