Now cost is a relative thing; when you consider that buying bottled water will cost as much as $3 a gallon, those 7 cents don't seem like much. But it is something to take into consideration.
You will also need to replace the filters occasionally, again a fairly minimal expense but something that should be factored into your decision.
You will need to use a lot of water. For example, these units tend to use about 3 gallons of water just to purify one gallon of drinking water. This can be an issue for any homeowner who lives in an area that has water use restrictions in place or who pays a lot for their monthly water bill.
If you are buying 3 gallons of water, on average, just to get one gallon of drinkable water, that is a lot of water (that you are paying for) going down the drain.
Water filtration osmosis is a great method of ensuring that the water in your home is free of contaminants and impurities. As with most things, it does come with it's own pros and cons and it's ultimately up to you to decide if this is the best type of system for you house. No matter which system you decide to go with, it's nice to know that you can make sure your family is only getting the cleanest, safest water possible.
