Doctors most often will prescribe a topical steroid lotion or cream; and it will provide relief. However if used too often it could cause harmful side effects. This article is going to provide you with several holistic eczema treatments that may include diet changes, the topical use of medicinal herbs and nutritional supplements.

Soak a clean cloth in cold milk for about 1 minute. Apply the cloth directly to the afflicted area as a natural remedy for eczema. Leave the cloth in place for about five minutes to allow time for the milk to soothe the itching. Repeat as often as necessary to provide relief. Milk is one of the most popular eczema natural remedies because of its availability and effectiveness.

Make a skin wash using the following ingredients: 1 tsp. comfrey root, 1 tsp. white oak bark, 1 tsp. slippery elm bark. Boil all the ingredients in 2 cups of water for 35 minutes. Let it cool and wash the affected area(s). When prescription creams do not work for eczema, many are advised to opt for aloe vera based products. This is indeed one of the best herbal remedies for eczema. Extracts of aloe vera plants have been used for years for the treatment of skin disorders like eczema and acne. Aloe vera gels are available at various drug stores and is a proven remedy to combat eczema successfully. Children with sensitive skin can safely use it topically to get the desired result.

Coconut Oil:This oil has good healing properties that helps to get rid of eczema fast and it keeps the skin looking soft, by retaining the original natural condition of the skin.

1-2 tablespoon oak bark (cut into little pieces), boil it with 1/2 L water for 10-15 minutes, let it cool off. Use a piece of linen or mull compress and soak it with the liquid, press it and wrap it around the affected body parts. 3 times daily 1-2 hours.

Grind the tow cups of oatmeal until it is in powder form. Pour the powdered oatmeal in the bath of warm water and mix it around until it is almost fully dissolved. Sit in the bath and ensure that the affected areas are soaked in the mixture for about 15 minutes. Once done, rinse well, pat your skin dry and the moisturize well.

Teas made from Chinese herbs are also commonly used to treat eczema. The combination of herbs varies and depends upon the severity of the eczema and the suspected cause of the eczema. Some of these herbs used for herbal teas include include fang feng, tian men dong, gan cao, shi gao, yi yi ren, ku shen, sheng di huang, zhi mu and mu dan pi. The Chinese herbs chuan xiong and huang qin can also treat scalp eczema. Long dan cao may be added to herbal teas to treat ear and facial eczema. Drinking Erka Shizheng herbal tea twice a day helps treat severe eczema in children.
