Free schlorships-believe it or not there could be one for everyone

Education RSS Feed

If you are on the lookout for free scholarships you will be happy to know that not only are there a lot of scholarships available to virtually every type of person in every type of situation (and no, you don't have to be an athlete to get a scholarship). It is really just a matter of finding which ones are the best options for you and begin the application process as early as possible.

All scholarships have their own criteria for acceptance, and that is where you have to start. You need to compile a list of scholarship opportunities that you are qualified for. For example, if you aren't going to nursing school you obviously would not apply for a nursing scholarship. Find the ones that are targeted to you and you meet all the necessary criteria for acceptance.

Don't wait until the summer before you want to head off to college, no matter what free scholarships you are applying for the application process is time consuming and will require a lot of effort on your part. Not only that but you will also need to get letters of recommendation from teachers and that might take a while too. Get started early.

Try to find some scholarships that are "left over" and that no one has claimed. It may sound ridiculous but there are scholarships for pretty much anything you can think of. There is even a scholarship program for left handed people! I'm sure you can find several that you qualify for. Just do a search for scholarships that will fit you and your age, the type of college degree you want to get, your ethnicity, and other attributes that you may have.

In many cases you can even go to your local library and ask for help in finding books that list available scholarships. There are a ton of resources available, both online and off, that can help you compile a list of scholarships you are eligible for. From that point on all you have to do is start the application process.

You will need multiple letters of recommendation in most cases so asking more people for a recommendation than you will actually need is a good idea. Sometimes people forget or they procrastinate. If you've only approached one or two people for recommendations and for whatever reason they don't ever deliver, you are out of luck.

But if you ask 6 people for a recommendation, for example, you are likely to get at least 2 or 3 back at a minimum. You should be set. And, if all 6 actually do come through, well, that is never a bad thing.

There are free scholarships for just about anything you can imagine. Just by being human you are likely to find dozens of possibilities that will suit your needs. The most important thing to remember is that the process is time consuming and if you don't start early you may just miss out and have to start college a year later than you originally planned. Start early.
