Teenage online dating

Dating RSS Feed

Teenage online dating is a widely debated subject mostly regarding the safety of our teens. In a carefully parent monitored situation you can be safe and happily date your heart out. Never, ever do anything online without your parents consent. Keep them informed as to who you want to date and where you will be at all times. Your parents love you and would not ever want anyone to harm you in any way. Read these next important tidbits with your parents and make a plan for when you find a date.

First, remember that the online dating services you hear about on TV and the radio are for adults only. That means you have to be 18 years old or older to join them. So where does that leave you? Either finding a date at school or using one of the social networking sites. Your safest bet is to find a date that is a friend of someone you know. Your parents will tell you to never, ever give out ANY personal information or send your picture, or tell anyone what school you go to, or where you work after school. You could find yourself in a world of hurt if you do.

Another factor to take into consideration is where you live. Life can be busy with school, or a part-time job or whatever and it would be a good idea to date someone who also lives close by or at least in the same general area as you do, for convenience sake if nothing else.

If you do find someone online you think you would like to date on a teenage online dating site, an awesome idea would be to meet them in a very public place and have your parents at the same place acting as distant chaperones, always keeping you in their line of site. I know you sometimes think your parents are dweebs but, again, they would rather keep you safe than ever let anyone hurt you. Your parents reserve the right to do that themselves.

If you would be too nervous having your parents be in the same restaurant watching you, then keep your cell phone with you and on at all times. Take it with you to the bathroom and give your parents a call to check in every couple of hours. Take his or her picture and send it to someone and write down their license plate or take a picture of it too along with the color and make of the car he or she is driving. Doing this will keep your date from even considering doing anything to harm you.

Something else to consider, you are young, you really do not need a serious dating partner at this point in your life. At this time in your life you should be concentrating on having fun. The serious stuff will come all too soon, so why borrow trouble, just go have fun with your friends. Who knows, maybe you have a secret admirer you do not even know about yet because they are too shy to come forward. Figure out who it is that you are and who you want to be before committing yourself to one, single person from a teenage online dating site.
