Email has opened up a whole new world of potential and possibilities. No where is this more true than for the small business owner trying to get a toe hold online. By properly utilizing business email marketing you can increase your sales and your following and really have that "push button" money machine everyone is talking about.

For those of you who are unsure of how this all goes together, here is a brief overview:

1. You need to automate the whole system so you will want to sign up for an auto responder service. You can get free versions but they are somewhat limited. If you can afford about $20 a month you can get a very full featured system.

2. When you have your auto responder you will want to create a web form for your blog or website (don't worry, it's all point and click, you don't need any special skills). To get people to sign up to your list you will want to create an ebook or ecourse that you will give them for free if they sign up. Again, don't worry, this is quite easy to do just make it about something related to your niche.

3. Once the form is on your site, and your enticement is all set up, the next thing you need to do is comprise some follow up emails. The more the better. Follow through on the theme of the free product you used to encourage them to sign up. Add value and benefit for them. Teach them something that will help them.

You can set the emails to go out as often as you want. There are a lot of theories about how much is too much. To a large degree you will just have to find out what works best in your niche. It's a case of trial and error.

That is it in a nutshell. The primary mission of your business email marketing strategy is build a relationship with the people on your list. Getting them on your list and having multiple contacts with them is really the only way you can "get to know them" and more importantly, they can "get to know you" and trust you.

A few other hints that can help you:

1. Make your subject lines interesting so your emails get opened. Getting them to signup to your list is only half the battle, the next step is to do everything you can to get them to open and read your emails. The longer they are on your list, and the more they trust you and like what you have for them each time you send them an email, the more they will learn to open your emails.

2. Don't get too fancy with your emails. I personally stay away from using HTML since some people won't be able to read them. Again, this is something you can experiment with for your niche and find what works best.

business email marketing plan. This is one of the most often overlooked aspects to an online business, don't make that mistake.
