Mobile homes or static caravans also referred to as caravans or trailers are manufactured homes built and assembled from scratch in different factories, somewhat than on site as it is done usually when constructing a house, and then transported to the location where they will be in use. Larger versions of these travel trailers that were projected to be used for accommodation for several months or more in one location came to be known as home trailers. However, trailer homes like these were first introduced in England where they were called caravans.
Mobile homes are manufactured in two universal foremost standard sizes; single-wides and double-wides. Single-wides are 18 feet (5.5 m) or less in width and 90 feet (27 m) or less in length and can be pulled along to their required purposed destination as a single unit. Double-wides are twenty feet or more in width and are 90 feet (27 m) in length or less and are pulled to their destination in two separate units, which are then joined together upon arrival. Triple-wides and homes with four, five, or even more units are also constructed although not as frequently as the single and double ones.

Mobile homes are often located in land rent communities called as trailer parks. These communities are also known as trailer courts, mobile home parks, mobile home communities, manufactured home communities, or factory built home communities. The community’s administration allows home owners to lease land space on which to place their home. Along with providing space, the community may also provide basic utilities like water, sewer, electricity, or natural gas.
