Bathroom vanity installation

Business RSS Feed

One of the most important necessities of your home is the bathroom vanity! Well, vanity consists of the bathroom sink and the storage unit. In case, if there comes a problem and you have to replace it, you would require some basic knowledge about it. You might use a plastic plumbing kit or a brass plumbing kit; the basic setup is the same. Well, plastic drainpipes are a bit sensitive so it is not necessary to use pipe wrenches on them.

First of all, get the supply lines. Now, you need to look for the tap waterline connections at the bottom of the sink. Next, you need to connect the supply lines with the tap waterline connections. Be ready with your wrench, as you are to use it in order to tighten the connection. Now connect the supply lines with the shut off regulators located in the back wall beneath the sink. Again use a wrench for tightening purposes.

Next, you are to place the drain pipe tailpiece on the bottom of the sink drain. Now you are to put the nut provided in your kit over it and fit it into the sink drain. Use your hands to tighten the nut to the drain. Now you are to assemble the “P” trap that is basically a two part drainpipe. Do not use the wrench for tightening the two parts. Only use hands. Now place the nut on the end of the tailpiece and slip the top end of the “P” trap on top of the tailpiece. Again avoid using a wrench and tighten it with your hands.

Now comes a little technical part. Get your hacksaw and the measuring tape ready. You are to measure the distance from the back end of the “P” trap to the drainpipe in the wall under the sink and add two inches to it. Now cut the last piece of the sink drainpipe to that length by using a hacksaw.

Now comes the last part and definitely the most relieving one. Alright, now you need to put a couple of nuts onto the pipe. Be sure that the threads of the nuts are facing in the opposite directions. Insert the end of the pipe which you had cut into the wall. Now you are to set the other end, of the pipe, on the connection at the back end of the “P” trap. Again do not use a wrench as it can cause damage to the plastic pipe and cause leaks. Tighten the nuts with your hands.

Here you are with your installation complete. A little tip for this entire process could be to wrap up the threads on the connections for the supple lines with thread sealing tape for lines but don’t use rubber seals in them. Good luck!
