Ross Flags and Design LLC has been granted licensing rights by Intellectual Properties Management (exclusive Licensor of the King Estate) to create, manufacture, and market a flag honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.Flag This is the first time such a thing has been done; therefore were very honored to have been granted this privilege and responsibility. One of the main stipulations in the licensing agreement is that we begin with a grassroots marketing campaign, reaching out to Churches, Universities, Schools, Museums, Libraries, and Government/Municipal Buildings. We're happy to say that the flag designs flies daily at the King Center in Atlanta and is offered in their gift shop. WeҒve had success getting the flag into several museums, including the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, The Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore, and The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. Weve also been accepted by several Historically Black Colleges and University bookstores, including Morehouse, Grambling, and Howard.WeҒre now beginning to focus on our schools.
The idea of the flag accessories came from our companys founders some eight years ago after being victims of a hate crime in Katy, TX, a suburb of Houston. Instead of being bitter, this life-changing incident ignited a fire in Dwayne and Maria Ross to do something about the inherent cause of the decision made by their perpetrators.They went on a crusade to make an impact to eradicate bigotry and hatred.They sought the teachings of Dr. King to do so. One might ask, ғwhy a flag? The flag represents a visual symbol that exemplifies pride, shows respect, and stimulates dialogue, all critical in addressing the continued racial tension in our country brought on by ignorance and intolerance. This flag and its symbolism is our offering to the extension of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his beliefs and teachings. The flagԒs slogan, YesterdayӒs Dream, Tomorrows RealityҔ offers a glimpse into how far Dr. Kings dream has come. It reminds all of us, to teach in our schools, homes, and churches the importance of what Dr. King stood for.
